1.
(Chapter 1) The sky opens wide above me As I leave my shelter behind I cannot process such devastation Nothing is left that would suggest a habitable world Bodies in the streets, not a single structure standing The ground opens up below me, emptiness I cannot describe Set a fire to the heart carved from my chest Nothing is left that would suggest a habitable world Not a single human voice to smash the tomb-like silence Even the sunlight is an enemy (no way to hide from its rays) Scars a land already on its knees My only hope is that the war took all of those who thought it was a game To betray the planet, betray the human race So many died, yet I survived To dwell in hell on earth is my prize Agony incarnate, my new identity To die would be so easy Close my eyes and fall asleep... I choose to live, I choose to carry on To use my gifts to help the world recover My burning limbs will carry me One step at a time towards my destiny What right have I to end my life When so many were lost in the endless night Torn away from the ones they held so dear? My vision's never been so clear I choose this torturous existence I choose to bear this burden For all my earthly days
2.
(Chapter 7) Cold hands tear me from my sleep (as you knew they would) Cold hands drag me under the stars When you turned your back on your family Spat in your father's eyes, sent your child to die No my dear, save your tears You will need them, come the dawn Cold eyes try to stare me down (You endangered us all) I will not be turned around, stand my ground My laws protect all human life Outside of these walls, ashes and death No my dear, save your tears You will need them, come the dawn You are not our father, you are just a machine And your children, rats in a maze Within a cage of apathy No desire to be free (you know not what you say!) You are not our father, you are just a machine And your children, rats in a maze (recant! repent!) Within a cage of apathy No desire to be free This is the only life you've known You know not what I sacrificed! Nothing you've done will save your Child from the outside world Desperate measures for desperate times No my dear, save your tears You will need them, come the dawn
3.
(Chapter 8) Citizens, both young and old, gather near the gate The woman standing on her own has chosen her own fate She's cast out innocence, hopefulness, her own flesh and blood To face a tortured land and an unrelenting sun With no protection, no supplies Why would she send her child to die? A deception or chasing myths? The reason matters not, only the crime The punishment is exile for all time! I will go into the flames With my head held high and with my own strength The world may think of me as evil But I know the truth and so does he My reign (your reign will end) will not be ended by you I have built all that you stand upon, I will outlast you! Your reign will end (Bow down!) I will not back down (Recant!) I will not explain (Repent!) I will never beg for my life I left my soul for dead (I will burn) Yet it clawed its way back to the light, if only for an instant (But not in vain, I pray) Vengeance is not the sweet nectar I thought it would be Her words resound in my hollow heart! I will go into the flames With my head held high and with my own strength The world may think of me as evil But I know the truth and so does he Your reign will end I have built all that you stand upon, I will outlast you! Your reign will end

(Chapter 4) To die would be so easy Just lay down and close my eyes I am not afraid to die 100 heartbeats are all that separate me From an uncertain eternity Courage wavers as my life force slips away One way out is all I see... I can't face mortality (Chorus) I can merge with the machine But will I keep all parts of me? (Will I become) Leave behind humanity (A bitter parody?) As I merge with the machine To die would be so easy / My children look to me for strength Just lay down and close my eyes / My mask of courage falls to the ground and cracks For their sake I cannot die One way out is all I see... I reject mortality! (Chorus) So I make the fateful choice as my heart fails Retinas replaced by one-way mirrors This web of wires becomes my home Consciousness sent to confinement As I run on autopilot The machine alleviates my fears Your children, it assures, Will never need to fear again (I'll never fear again) Humanity is preserved What i've become, I cannot see I have become the bitter parody
